Privacy Policy
You are visiting the website of Helen O'Brien Counselling and Psychotherapy, and you can contact me by email at helenobrien7777@gmail.com.
I respect your right to privacy and follow data protection law: the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. This page explains what happens to personal information you give me through this website.
Who looks after your information
I do: Helen O'Brien, Helen O'Brien Counselling and Psychotherapy, Heather Crest, Priorstown, Clonmel, Co Tipperary, E91 YR98. Phone 086 060 9844, email helenobrien7777@gmail.com. I decide how the information you send me is used, and I am responsible for looking after it.
This page covers this website and the messages you send me through it or by email.
When you visit this website
This website uses no cookies and does not track you. It has no advertising, no analytics and no social media buttons, and it loads nothing from other companies. That is why there is no cookie banner.
The website is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare's servers receive your device's internet (IP) address and basic technical details when you open a page, so that they can send the page to you and protect the site from attack.
Some links take you to other websites, such as Google Maps and OpenStreetMap. Once you follow one, that website's own privacy policy applies.
When you send me a message
The form asks for your name, a phone number or email address, and your message. You don't have to use it: you can phone me on 086 060 9844 instead.
When you press “Send message”, Cloudflare turns what you wrote into an email and sends it to my Gmail inbox. The website itself does not keep a copy. Cloudflare handles the message only to deliver it: its delivery log records that a message was sent to me, not what you wrote.
Please don't include sensitive details in your message. We can talk about those when we speak.
Why I use your information
I use your details only to reply to you and, if you wish, to arrange an appointment. I never use them for marketing, and I never sell them or pass them to anyone else.
I use your details in this way because you have asked me to get back to you. Data protection law calls this taking steps at your request.
Anything you tell me about your health is specially protected by law. I may use it because it is needed to provide counselling, and I am bound by professional confidentiality (Data Protection Act 2018, section 52).
Who else handles your information
- Cloudflare hosts the website and delivers form messages to my email. It acts only on my instructions, under its data processing agreement. Cloudflare's privacy policy (opens in a new tab)
- Google provides my Gmail account, where messages are kept. For people in Ireland, Google's services are provided by Google Ireland Limited. Google's privacy policy (opens in a new tab)
Information sent outside the EU
Cloudflare and Google may handle your information in the United States as well as in Europe. Both companies are certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, which the European Commission has recognised as protecting personal information adequately, and both also use the EU's standard contractual clauses.
How long I keep your information
If you don't go on to become a client, I delete your message, and the phone number or email address you gave me, within six weeks.
If you become a client, I keep your first message with my confidential client records.
Your rights
You can ask me at any time to:
- tell you what information I hold about you, and give you a copy
- correct it
- delete it
- stop using it, or use it only in limited ways
- give it to you in a form you can pass on to someone else
Just email helenobrien7777@gmail.com or phone 086 060 9844. I will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy
Please tell me first, and I will try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Data Protection Commission: dataprotection.ie (opens in a new tab), phone 01 765 0100, or write to 6 Pembroke Row, Dublin 2, D02 X963.
Changes to this page
If I change how I handle personal information, I will update this page and the date below.
